Outgoing U.S. Rep. Heather Wilson is closing her Washington, D.C., office next week and her Albuquerque office in mid-December.

Wilson, a Republican who represents the Albuquerque-area’s 1st Congressional District, announced Friday that her Washington, D.C., office will close on Nov. 26. Her Albuquerque office will remain open until Dec. 12.

“It has been an honor to serve New Mexico over the last 10 years,” Wilson said in a news release. “I’m proud of all that we’ve accomplished. I am also proud of my staff, both in Washington D.C. and in Albuquerque. Constituent service has always been job No. 1, and we set the gold standard for serving the people of the 1st District.”

Wilson’s office is no longer accepting new casework. People in the 1st District who need help working with a federal agency should contact Sen. Jeff Bingaman at (505) 346-6601.

Wilson is preparing to leave Congress after serving New Mexico for 10 years. She was first elected in a special election on June 23, 1998 and chose not to seek re-election this year. Instead, she ran for the Senate seat being vacated by retiring Republican Sen. Pete Domenici. She lost to Steve Pearce in the GOP primary, and Pearce went on to lose to Democrat Tom Udall.
