And the former diplomat, an expert in the delicacies of speaking diplomatically, chose not to mince words this week when it came to his thoughts on Gov. Bill Richardson possibly ascending to the post of secretary of state. In fact, Eagleburger gave an unvarnished, negative opinion of the guv.
When Andrea Mitchell, of NBC News, asked Eagleburger what he thought of Richardson, here was Eagleburger’s terse response: “I don’t want to beat everybody to death, but I have very little respect for his intelligence and his knowledge of foreign affairs.”
