In another sign of the bad economic times for media, Albuquerque Journal employees won’t get year-end bonuses for the first time in more than a decade.
Publisher T.H. Lang notified folks earlier this week.
As a Journal alum, I remember last year some employees worried openly about the bonuses not materializing. Ultimately they came. I know how big a hit not getting a bonus will be for some Journal employees. The longer one stays at the Journal, the larger the bonus grows. I didn’t stay long enough to see my bonus grow large, but I know some folks who did. And it is to you folks, and all who work hard to put out the paper every day, that I say I’m sorry about the bummer news.
