 With wall-to-wall elections coverage, is there anything else but politics going on around New Mexico?

Maybe. But let’s get to a few other political races first for all those political junkies out there.

 

With state lawmakers losing their seats last night, you might call Tuesday the Day of the Challenger. That was true in the San Juan County GOP primary for district attorney. Yep, yet another challenger knocked off an incumbent.

 

Tim Cummins, a former Albuquerque City Councilor, beat out another former councilor to win the Public Regulation Commission District 1 GOP nomination, the Journal reports.

 

OK, onto non-political news. Salmonella has sickened more than three dozen New Mexicans, according to the Las Cruces Sun-News. The state Department of Health has linked the problem to tainted tomatoes.

 

 And there’s some question in Santa Fe over how much the city will collect from a an excise tax on high-end home sales. Realtors in Santa Fe are saying the city won’t get as much revenue as previously thought. The city is checking.
