For example, in 1994 in an election for the Supreme Court seat, University of Alabama Law School students were used "as unwitting conduits of rumors" to unseat a Democratic candidate who was characterized as a gay pedophile. Reading Weisberg's and Jenning's accounts on the same day is truly disheartening. Whether the accusations are true or false, can we keep a candidate's sexuality out of politics and talk about issues that are important to the residents of New Mexico?
