The whole premise of this article is a crock. Stupid. While the editors let alot of schlock on this blog, this has to be one of the worst. For years we had essentially no power in the Senate because Domenici wouldnt do anything positive for the state and Bingaman was too scared of Domenici to do anything. Any good Udall could have done in the House was totally compromised by Pearce and Wilson. Now that Udall can be Bingaman's spine in the Senate and we have a whole host of honest, New Mexico oriented, hardworking people in the House....New Mexico is MUCH better off.

What a stupid article.

And as for the junior congressmen, they will not be junior forever. I for one would rather have junior Democrats than senior Republicans. Heather Wilson was a carpetbagger that was force fed to New Mecxcans by Domenici. He tried to hand the baton to her and failed. New Mexicans saw through his ploy.

As I have felt since Domenici announced his retirement, thank you Pete, thank you. Thank you for the opportunity to reclaim not one, but two US House seats and one Senate seat. Thanks to the Democrats for taking advantage of the situation presented by Domenici.

Thanks to the Democrats for not tearing each other up in the primaries. Because Republicand get into office only when the Democrats do that to themselves. I recall how Joe Skeen took the southern house seat and how Domenici came to end up in the senate.

But it is all over now, a new day is at hand. And in part by the retirement of Domenici. And part because of the pillaging of the United States by the Bush Administration. Good bye and good riddance.

I agree 100%. Marco Gonzales lamenting on "lost power" is nothing but him crying on the power he lost. Domenici wandering around the halls of the senate in pajamas was not doing New Mexicana any good. It was time for change and now we will have it.

The whole thrust of this article is inane beyond belief. Yeah, Domenici has a lot of power in Congress, but he never used any of it for anyone who wasn't connected to Wall Street or the military-industrial complex. Better for the working people of New Mexico that we be represented by a bunch of babes in the woods rather than the hard-hearted cynicism, arrogance, and corruption personified by Domenici and Wilson.
