ABQ Metro Court launches online media column

With a nod to the Internet age, Bernalillo County Metropolitan Court launched a regular media watchdog feature on it’s Web site late last week.

Located prominently at the top of the court’s Web site, the feature has been given the title "From the Court Executive Officer."

According to a press release issued last Friday, "Bernalillo County Metropolitan Court Administrator Brian Gilmore will be writing a column for the court’s website designed to clarify issues or provide the court’s side of controversies when information is left out or incorrectly reported in the mainstream media or online sources."

In the first installment, Gilmore criticizes an Aug. 21 news story by KOB TV’s investigative reporter Jeremy Jojola, arguing that "the reporter failed to mention a number of things that have [sic] bearing on this." The KOB story aimed to detail how it could be that Bernalillo County Deputy Sheriff Kyle Hartsock was scheduled to testify at Metro Court 23 times during the same day on Aug. 19.

Jojola’s original story can be viewed here.
