According to SFReeper, the Santa Fe Reporter’s blog, Gov. Bill Richardson will not be attending Barack Obama’s inauguration on Jan. 20.
This is not necessarily news. The Independent, and most New Mexico media, reported in early December that Richardson had decided to stay in Santa Fe rather than go to the president-elect’s inauguration.
Since then, Richardson has withdrawn from his nomination as U.S. Commerce Secretary due to a federal probe trying to determine if donations by CDR Financial to Richardson had anything to do with state work the firm received.
Of course Richardson is busy on Jan. 20. He is giving the State of the State address on that day, as he remains governor despite the pending federal investigation.
SFReeper writes, “According to [Richardson] spokesman Gilbert Gallegos, Richardson never planned to attend.”
