TODAY’S BLOG ROUNDUP: Crime and plane crashes report

By | 01.26.09 | 1:22 pm

Retired law enforcement officer and excellent photographer Mark Bralley has posted a huge photo essay on retired Sen. Pete Domenici. It is absolutely fascinating. You must go look at these pictures!

Speaking of cops, over at Eye on Albuquerque, there’s a discussion of Mayor Chavez and his policies on using ethanol in city police cars. The Eye says E85 ruins the cars’ fuel pumps and wrecks engines. In a Sunday posting, the Eye also released the results of an unscientific poll, conducted on the site, which revealed that “Eye readers overwhelmingly rejected the idea that the city is headed in the right direction.” The Eye is not a big fan of Marty. Can you tell?

And while you’re at it, head over to Duke City Fix to read this excellent/miserable report (“Mayor Chavez, You’ve Got a Drug Problem”) of an MFA student living in Barelas, where he says crack-related dramas play out on his doorstep (literally) all day and all night. The Fixistas have turned the poor guy on to his neighborhood association and city councilor.

And SFReeper’s Dave Maass is dogging Speaker Ben Luján about those Iron Maiden tickets. Why is this in the crime report? a) Because Maass’s video interview with Sen. John Arthur Smith (in the same post) is hilarious. And b) it’s a CRIME that Luján didn’t give those tickets to me!

Sorry, no plane crashes today, but hey, did you see that story in The New York Times about how researchers at the National Museum of Natural History are examining bird feathers from the US Airways crash? Interesting! Science-y!

A previous version of this story mistakenly identified the video. Sorry Maass!
