Fund raising brings high-profile politicos to N.M.

A number of high-profile, out-of-state politicians will be in New Mexico on Sept. 30 to raise money for political candidates.

Gov. Bill Richardson will be joined by Arizona Gov. Janet Napolitano and Kansas Gov. Kathleen Sebeliusat a fund-raiser in Las Cruces for Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama. And former Massachusetts Gov. and presidential candidate Mitt Romney will be in Albuquerque for a fund-raiser for GOP U.S. Senate candidate Steve Pearce.

The Obama fund-raiser begins at 5:30 p.m. for those who contribute at least $2,500 and at 6:30 p.m. for those who contribute $500 or more, according to the invitation. Those interested in attending can RSVP by clicking here.

The fund-raiser is being held at the home of state lobbyist Domonic Silva and his wife, Kami.

The Pearce fund-raiser was announced in an e-mail from the state GOP. It’s being held beginning at 6:30 p.m. at the home of car dealer Ken Zangara and his wife, Kathy. To RSVP, call (575) 492-9383 or e-mail andreatodd6@aol.com.
