Val Kilmer to be ‘King of Bacchus’ in New Orleans

If Val Kilmer wants to be governor of New Mexico and follow in the footsteps of actor-turned-governors such as Arnold Schwarzenegger and Ronald Reagan, he has an odd way of campaigning.

The Associated Press is reporting that Kilmer will be the “King of Bacchus” at the Krewe of Bacchus parade two days ahead of Mardi Gras in New Orleans. Last year’s King of Bacchus was pro wrestler and reality TV star Hulk Hogan.
Interestingly, Kilmer will be the second actor who played Batman to preside over the Krewe of Bacchus parade. According to the parade’s Web site, Michael Keaton also served as King of Bacchus in 2006.

The Kings of Bacchus range from actors such as Bob Hope and Charlton Heston to less-accomplished celebrities such as Alan Thicke and Gerald McRaney.

But of course, the best picture is that of Larry King hosting in 2001.

Oh, and Val Kilmer still has not spoke to any New Mexico media about running for governor.
