Time to wrangle up the end-of-the week blogs and put them out in today’s edition of the NMI blog roundup.
Democracy for New Mexico takes an extensive look at the reason why ethics legislation doesn’t make it past the Legislature. DFNM blames culprits like Senate Majority Leader Michael Sanchez and House Majority Leader Ken Martinez for the annual torpedoing of ethics legislation.
A blogger at Duke City Fix looks at the Northwest Loop, which would swing from I-40 to US 550. The blogger calls the road a “road to nowhere,” a reference to Alaska’s now-infamous bridge to nowhere.
Our own Marjorie Childress, at her blog m-pyre takes a look at the fallout of pay-to-play. “But I do have to say, I agree with Heath that the Foy lawsuit — as serious as it may be — is being shamefully litigated in the press.” The Heath she refers to is another NMI writer, Heath Haussamen.
Peter St. Cyr writes about the New Mexico Domestic Violence Homicide Review Team. He briefly looked at a few stats from New Mexico.
Oh, and welcome back to blogging to St. Cyr, who is coming back from some health problems.
Mario Burgos says Gov. Bill Richardson is busy circumventing checks and balances when we should be focusing on the economy.
John Fleck looks at what happens when a newspaper –the Kansas City Kansan — stops printing and goes to a Web-only format. Of course, there is another daily in Kansas City, the larger Kansas City Star, so that could have something to do with the Web-only failure.
SFReeper.com looks at David Coss and the College of Santa Fe.
