maybe if the exit were in front of a casino.. if this loop road ever comes to fruition, as shown, it will increase traffic pressures on that Bernalillo stretch of stop light four lane road to unbearable levels, (bad now) a better solution would be to upgrade it (NM 44/US 550) to an elevated freeway facility on an earthen embankment, allowing the north south arterials, river, and the railroad to pass underneath. Frontage would be on each side. A stack directional interchange at the present day I-25/NM 44-US 550/NM 165 exit would also be necessary. This would require acquisition along it's length, and for the stack interchange, highly unlikely in today's anti planning, and highly political enviroment.

AS Horner completely rebuilt the 1960's era interchange at that site (I-25/Tramway) with no change and added sound walls roughly eight to ten years ago. The area had completely filled in, and no improvements wihout takings were possible.

there may have also been a proposal, at one time, to construct a limited access route, or the precursor to one, along the path of today's Juan Tabo Blvd. Kind of like a Texas deal, where the frontages are constructed first, with a wide grassy median for future freeway construction. Such a route would have been advantageous for traffic movements, orderly business development, and also access to Kirtland AFB and the airport. Of course growth reached the Juan Tabo area first, and the area is highly developed along it's six lane boulevard today.
