Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee aims big guns at Tinsley, White

The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) will begin airing TV ads attacking Ed Tinsley in the 2nd Congressional District. These are the first ads since announcing they would reserve $1.2 million for the 2nd Congressional District race. The group also reserved $1.3 million for the race in the 1st Congressional District and are now airing more ads in that district as well.

The 2nd Congressional District ad hits Tinsley hard on his stance against the minimum wage.

“Ed Tinsley supports tax cuts for millionaires like himself, but opposed raising the minimum wage for people who work for businesses like his,” the narrator says in the ad. Tinsley owns the restaurant chain K-Bobs.

The DCCC is also airing another ad in the 1st Congressional District that highlights the connections between Republican candidate Darren White and George W. Bush, the highly unpopular president.

“White supports staying the course in Iraq and Bush’s failed economic policies,” the ad says. “More tax breaks for the wealthiest one percent while middle class families struggle.”

The DCCC and White’s Democratic opponent, Martin Heinrich, have attempted to drive home the ties between White and Bush throughout the campaign.

Tinsley’s opponent, Harry Teague, is also a millionaire, but supports a higher minimum wage.

The Tinsley ad ends with the narrator saying, “Because what’s good for Ed is bad for New Mexico.”
