KUNM hits new audience high

kunm-logo1Local public radio station KUNM announced that it received its biggest audience ever in 2008, according to Arbitron Research ratings. According to the University of New Mexico, the audience grew to 112,800 people per week during fall 2008.

In the spring, the ratings were 100,900 per week. “The elections and economic news were huge stories in fall 2008,” said  KUNM General Manager Richard Towne. “Our volunteers, staff and students had a powerful opportunity to produce excellent public radio to serve this community.”

KUNM is the largest public radio station in New Mexico and reaches more than half the state. The station broadcasts from Oñate Hall at on the campus of UNM.

KUNM also features a segment with New Mexico Independent reporters every Thursday during the airing of “All Things Considered.”
