As part of our continuing coverage of ethics reform legislation, NMI webcast live from the Senate Rules Committee Wednesday morning. Here is the transcript of our live blog. This transcript has been edited for length.

Although there was a long list of ethics bills scheduled for Wednesday, the committee only voted on one, spending much of its time on a long debate over a reappointment to the State Game Commission.

The Committee gave a Do Pass to SB 451 “Contributions to PERA Board Candidates,” which would cap contributions at $75.

Sen. Linda Lopez, chair of the Senate Rules Committee, promised that first thing Friday morning the senators will take up deliberation on bills that would establish an independent ethics commission, including:
SB 139 STATE ETHICS COMMISSION ACT (CAMPOS)
SB 557 STATE ETHICS COMMISSIONS ACT (LOPEZ)
SB 140 STATE ETHICS COMMISSION ACT (FELDMAN)
SB 269 STATE BIPARTISAN ETHICS COMMISSION ACT (RYAN)
