Senators Eric Griego, Stephen Fischmann and Dede Feldman deserve the praise of all New Mexicans for their opposition to the Suncal bailout TIDD! The democratic leadership of John Arthur Smith and Tim Jennings is a total sellout to the lobbyists. The Republicans are puppets of the lobbyists! We need reform so bad.

I really hope people heard the TIDDS web cast yesterday afternoon and really, really hope somebody recorded it for posterity. Besides being an incredible piece of NM history there is no doubt when the Feds get around to investigating this mess and call their first Grand Jury it will be handy to have.

The whole thing was from the Twilight zone. There was Senator Linda Lopez carrying a couple of tanker loads of water for SunCal and Senator Eric Greigo actually laying out a good case why 1) SunCal can't be trusted, 2) outside auditors say it can't work and the "Numbers" are ALL wrong, and 3) it will end up just being yet another case of stealing from Peter to pay Paul - meaning that it will mostly be populated by Business moving to the area from other parts of Abq and NOT new Business moving into the State. But no matter how goods his arguments were and reasonable his amendments were they were ignored. All Lopez could say was that she had hope and she still won the day.

Maybe I'm just cynical but I can't help but feel that the fix was in and that SunCal has bought the Legislature lock, stock and barrel. All the Republicans voted for it plus most Dems so the buyout was widespread. We saw a bit NM History which will be pivotal if this thing blows up and moves from a TIDD to the SunCal corruption case. Certainly, if it does blow up, it tells us who may be joining Manny in jail. Based on the outside auditors the development plan by SunCal can't work. And, based on SunCal's track record it won't work. Ergo, the Senate has voted for a disaster.

Yesterday's events puts one person right smack in the middle of a possible 408 million dollar heist of State Tax dollars and it will be interesting to watch this Senator's fate. I'm not a betting man but won't be surprised if this is that Senator's last term - it may be time to cash out and run.

I was listening to the Senate debate when Tim Jennings said something to the effect that the Westside deserves more than a sewage plant. Aside from the fact that the treatment plant is east of the river, I thought it was pretty ironic as the scale of development planned by SunCal will likely require an expansion of the existing facility.

What a disgrace. The State Senate has failed New Mexicans to give a bailout to SunCal. This is the height of folly.
