Public radio station KANW 89.1 FM, the oldest FM station in New Mexico, aired its last episode of the nationally syndicated program “Day to Day.” The program will cease production on March 20, according to an announcement from NPR from late 2008.

The news program, designed to be “a midday complement to mainstays ‘Morning Edition’ and ‘All Things Considered,’” will be replaced by “The Diane Rehm Show.” KANW will continue to air “Morning Edition.”

From the KANW Web site:

As NPR’s Day to Day ceases production due to budget constraints, KANW will add The Diane Rehm Show to the weekday schedule at 11:00 a.m. We are committed to providing quality public radio programming and are confident you will enjoy our new program lineup. Thank you for your continued listenership and support of 89.1 KANW.

“The Diane Rehm Show,” according to the show’s Web site, is based out of WAMU in Washington, D.C., and has a “weekly U.S. audience is estimated at 1.7 million and growing.” The show is a live call-in show and will begin airing on KANW on Monday.

“News and Notes,” another NPR program, will also cease production on March 20. The show does not appear on public radio in New Mexico.
