GOP Rep. Kintigh ready to begin Roundhouse webcasting — pending approval by committee chairs

State Rep. Dennis Kintigh says he’s ready to begin webcasting meetings of the House Health and Government Affairs and Judiciary committees. Now all he needs is to get formal permission from the chairs of those committees.

Kintigh said he asked Rep. Al Park, D-Albuquerque and Judiciary chairman, on Friday and was told to put his request in writing.

“I got no indication Rep. Park was opposed, he just said that was the policy,” Kintigh wrote in an e-mail.

Kintigh, R-Roswell, plans to put the request in writing on Monday. As of his Friday e-mail to me, he had not yet asked Rep. Mimi Stewart, D-Albuquerque and chairwoman of Health and Government Affairs, if she would allow webcasting.

Webcasting House committee meetings has been formally allowed at the discretion of committee chairs ever since the House approved a rule earlier in the session that also authorized official audio webcasts from the House floor.

Judiciary is scheduled to meet Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 1:30 p.m. Health and Government Affairs is scheduled to meet Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays at 8:30 a.m.

Kintigh will be webcasting through the same Web site as Rep. Janice Arnold-Jones, R-Albuquerque. You can find it by clicking here.
