ABQ mayoral candidate Michael Cadigan says no to using campaign funds for alcohol

Campaign volunteers who were ready to buy a few cases of Corona for those late Friday nights were happy at the news that alcohol with public financing funds was OK.

But Albuquerque mayoral candidate and City Councilor Michael Cadigan doesn’t think that is a good idea, and he hopes to prohibit alcohol purchases with public financing dollars, the Albuquerque Journal’s Dan McKay reports.

Cadigan said his bill would make it clear “unequivocally” that “taxpayer money should not be used to pay for alcoholic beverages.” It will be introduced at the next council meeting, he said in a written statement.
