Amend it to include religious entities under the definition of 'nonprofits', and you've got a fair fight.

Large donors revealed? No email, snail mail or public exhortation on legislators or bills from the pulpit? Sounds like a deal. Where do I sign?

Oh wait...this bill proposes unilateral disarmament on the part of any nonprofit that isn't also engaged in religious activities? On second thought, no thanks.

I find it hard to believe that Rep. Debbie Rodella is a strong supporter of transparency. If she was, I think she would have also criticized her husband Tom Rodella, who was ousted as Rio Arriba County magistrate for his record of nasty doings.

For instance, when Tom Rodella was a NM state cop for 13 years, he was disciplined for marijuana use, improper use of a weapon and physical abuse. As a judge he helped a friend arrested for DWI get out of jail on the Fourth of July weekend and then was the judge for his court appearance.

Or maybe Rep. Rodella didn't like it when her constituents were informed that, based on campaign finance reports going back to 2004, 29 percent of Rodella's campaign funds have come from health care, insurance and pharmaceutical companies, 15 percent from the banking and payday loan firms, and 13 percent from liquor and tobacco interests: http://tinyurl.com/bglez2
