Most notably, the committee voted to table Rep. Al Park’s bill that would have expanded the definition of cruelty to animals. Even though a wide range of animal rights, law enforcement and domestic violence groups spoke in support of the bill, Republican committee members Clinton Harden, William Payne and Sander Rue, along with Democrats Linda Lopez, Michael Sanchez and Bernadette Sanchez voted to table it.
