We’re going to start today with another one of those stories that makes you want to smack your own forehead.

Jim Scarantino has the goods over at New Mexico Liberty about $9 million the state loaned to a company that said it planned to create 200 jobs in southern Doña Ana County but has instead “exported jobs to Mexico.”

“Not one dime” of the loan has been repaid, Scarantino writes. Oh, and you probably guessed this already, but the company’s founder is a big-time Democrat who has given money to Gov. Bill Richardson and others.

Meanwhile, Clearly New Mexico has an interesting post that helps shine light on a Texas developer’s huge contributions to N.M. GOP candidates for office, all in the context of making the case for campaign contribution limits.

Last, a shameless plug: You should go vote in the weekly poll on my own site asking whether the governor should sign a bill that would open conference committees and many other legislative meetings to the public.
