Dick Armey targeting Bingaman, others on health care reform

By | 04.02.09 | 2:54 pm

Staunch health-care reform opponent and former U.S. House Majority Leader Dick Armey is now targeting moderate Democrats in the Senate and Blue Dog Democrats in the House to attempt to kill health care reform, according to The Huffington Post.

And on his list of targets is none other than New Mexico’s senior senator, Jeff Bingaman.

The effort is coming from FreedomWorks, a conservative activist group chaired by Armey.

From FreedomWorks press release: “Knowing that it will be hard to socialize medicine, Congress is seeking to avoid a debate by inserting language in the budget bill to circumvent traditional debating procedures in order to sneak government-run healthcare through Congress.”

The Huffington Post continues to say that the group “will be robocalling its member list, as well as launching a lobbying campaign to fight the inclusion of the health-care reserve fund in the budget and the use of reconciliation to pass reform.”
