No Gary Johnson for prez — yet

gary-johnson-picFormer Gov. Gary Johnson is always a favorite with the libertarian crowd. But he isn’t saying whether or not he will make a run for president in 2012, according to a conversation — from Taos Ski Valley, no less — with the Albuquerque Journal.

Johnson told the Journal that thinking about a presidential run now, just months after a new president has taken over, is not the most appropriate time.

In fact, Johnson said, “I just think it couldn’t be more inappropriate to be talking about it.”

And, it shouldn’t surprise people to find out that Johnson isn’t a dittohead (what fans and followers of conservative talk radio icon Rush Limbaugh call themselves). Unlike the now-infamous quote from Limbaugh, who said  he wants President Barack Obama to fail, Johnson told the Journal, “I would love to see Obama succeed.”

So when can we come back and see if Johnson has any presidential ambitions? “About 18 months. Will that work?” Johnson asked the Journal.
