Richardson won’t sign retirement bill today

Gov. Bill Richardson won’t sign retirement-related bills as the governor’s office previously announced he would. This isn’t because of a last-second change of heart on the bills but rather “because of legal and technical conflicts that must be resolved.”

A statement on the retirement-related bills concluded, “He will take action on those bills soon.”

The governor, however, was scheduled to sign the budget and capital outlay bills today at 11 a.m. in the Governor’s Cabinet Room, the statement announced.

Richardson will also sign a racial-profiling bill during a separate ceremony this afternoon in the same chamber.
