Sheriff Darren White for Norm Coleman

Maybe Darren White wasn’t much of a fan of Stuart Smalley. But White is clearly a supporter of Minnesota Republican and probable ex-U.S. Sen. Norm Coleman.

If you head over to the campaign Web site of the former congressional candidate and current term-limited Bernalillo County sheriff, you will find that it automatically redirects to fellow Republican Norm Coleman’s re-election campaign Web site.

The Minnesota Republican’s chances of being seated, months after the election, were dealt a serious blow yesterday when a three-judge election panel ruled that Al Franken won the election. Coleman immediately announced the he would appeal the decision to the Minnesota Supreme Court.

Though even here, there is controversy — one Supreme Court justice, Christopher Dietzen, donated to Coleman. And two others will recuse themselves because of the roles they played in the recount.

No matter what, Franken won’t be in the Senate as the 59th Democratic senator any time soon, and Minnesota will be stuck with one senator for a while.
