U.S. Rep. Martin Heinrich spoke alongside wildlife advocates from across the country at a press conference hosted by the National Wildlife Federation in honor of Earth Day today.
“As we celebrate Earth Day 2009, I am proud to stand with my fellow sportsmen and women, to lend additional support to the critical issue of climate change,” Heinrich is quoted as saying in a statement from his office. “This bipartisan group of wildlife and conservation leaders share my strong belief that we must do more to fight climate change and protect our planet for generations to come.”
Heinrich continued, “I am deeply committed to protecting wildlife, capping carbon pollution, and investing in clean energy jobs.”
Other organizations that participated in today’s press conference include: the National Wildlife Federation, Pheasants Forever, Trout Unlimited, Teddy Roosevelt Conservation Partnership, Izaak Walton League of America and Ducks Unlimited. In addition to these organizations, Heinrich joined more than 70 hunters and fishers at the event.
And Heinrich, who has his own YouTube channel now, has a 22 second slideshow of pictures from the event.
