Bernalillo County Sheriff Darren White will soon have another addition to his resume: radio host. The conservative Republican will be hosting a show called “Crime and Politics” on Albuquerque’s conservative talk radio station 770 KKOB starting Saturday, May 2.
“I’ll discuss crime issues from a crime fighter’s point of view, and topics on the political plate,” White said in a statement. “I’ll go after those who don’t play by the rules.”
The show is a return to the air for White, who is term-limited to his position as sheriff and so cannot run for a third-consecutive term. White, a Republican, was previously a reporter for the Albuquerque TV station KRQE-TV. White was also a cabinet-level secretary under ex-Gov. Gary Johnson.
“I am glad we were able to get this done,” 770 KKOB Program Director and AM Operations Manager Pat Frisch said. “Darren’s always been good at communicating with people. Now our audience will get the opportunity to experience that. He’s not afraid to say what’s on his mind. That’s what I really like.”
But listeners should know, they might not get everything they want out of the show. “No I won’t take calls asking me to fix a speeding ticket!” White said. “I’ll be on KKOB to dish out opinion and knowledge.”
The show will air from 1pm to 2pm on Saturdays.
