NMAA says activities can go forward

The New Mexico Activities Association (NMAA) said today that it is OK for the activities, including multiple state championship events that have are being rescheduled. Earlier this week, the NMAA postponed all activities because more than a dozen schools closed down and suspended all extracurricular activities because of H1N1 (or “swine”) flu fears.

The Albuquerque Journal has the lowdown from an emergency NMAA meeting that happened earlier this morning.

From the blog posting:

The board, citing Tuesday’s declarations by state and federal health officials that it was safe to reopen schools, decided to go ahead with the original schedule for state championships in a number of sports — with some modifications due to lost practice time and venue arrangements.

The Journal also has a schedule of all of the events and when they will happen, including baseball, softball, track and field and tennis.
