TODAY’S TOP STORIES: Movies, trains and power plants

Hollywood is again coming to this Land of Enchantment. A new movie entitled “The Dry Land” will be filming throughout central New Mexico from now until late May, according to KRQE-TV.

The Rail Runner Express may officially be heading south to Las Cruces and El Paso.  Gov. Bill Richardson hopes this is the first move in creating a centerpiece for regional transportation, so reports the New Mexico Business Weekly

Also, the Los Alamos Monitor is reporting on two Energy Frontier Research Centers to be hosted by Los Alamos National Laboratory.  Funded by the U.S. Department of Energy, the centers can expect $20M in funding over the next five years.

And lastly, the Farmington Daily Times reports on a $6.9M  fine that must be paid by the San Juan Generating Station coal-fired power plant for air quality violations from 2005 to 2008.  PNM owns 47 percent of the plant and paid close to $3.2M for their portion of the fine.
