The Associated Press has the detailed dollars and cents on recent fundraising and spending totals for New Mexico’s top political players, including Gov. Bill Richardson, Lt. Governor Diane Denish, and Attorney General Gary King.

KRQE-TV, meanwhile, calls attention to the Albuquerque Police Department’s standards in light of ex-officer David Maes’ actions before his hiring and during his tenure as an officer.  Theft, vandalism, bribery, drug use were apparently not enough to disallow Maes’ employment.  He would later be charged with rape, and there’s some criticism that the Albuquerque mayor’s office’s has been pushing to “soften standards.”

On the alcohol beat, Doña Ana County is holding an election today to determine whether local restaurants can serve beer and wine.

The Gallup Independent covers the panel discussion “Two Peoples — One Struggle” that took place Saturday evening at the UNM branch in Gallup.  The forum focused on the connection based on the relationships between Native Americans and the United States, as well as  between Palestinians and the State of Israel.

And last buy not least, after a call for submissions a while back, the Portales News-Tribune has posted the new design for the Portales flag.  Interestingly enough, it was Argen Duncan, the paper’s senior writer, who won the contest.
