I encourage NMI to contact all the candidates directly to get their views on these important issues. It is irresponsible to allow others to state their interpretation of our positions. I am a candidate and I have been endorsed by Sen. Feldman. This does not make me the Senator's puppet or the agent of any of my supporters or funders.

Here is part of a letter I sent to the Journal after they also allowed my views to be misrepresented: “I believe the MRGCD should actively engage with each of the communities it serves to develop long-term trail maintenance plans. Ditch trails have braided our communities together for generations, but times are changing. We must respect private property rights, and protect the health and safety of those who live along active trails.” You can learn more about my actual views at www.ProtectTheValley.com

I think it is for the acequia parciantes to decide not the government. The goverment will decide for the benefit of the "profiteers." We saw what the "profiteers" did concerning Valle Vidal.

Be logical. These incidents are already happening. If these things are happening already, its partly because the ditches have very little foot traffic. Right now the ditches are like abandoned parks: they get taken over by people with bad intentions. But, like busy parks, the foot traffic improves the place. People care for what they travel to. People want recreation places to be nice. The increased foot traffic means more eyes and ears around your property. The people who want to hike, walk, bicycle and walk their dogs along the ditches are the kind of folks who want livable places. They are not the kind of people who trash recreation areas.

I live on one of the ditches that run through ALBUQUERQUE. while i GENERLY SUPPORT fELDMAN, ON THIS i DON'T HERE, HERE,S WHY. i HAVE SEEN PEOPLE USE THE DITCHE S AS THEIR BATHROOM IN BROAD OPEN DAYLIGHT, I'VE SEEN MANY CHILDREN SNEEKING DOWN THE DITCH TO HAVE A SMOKE OR GRAB ONE OF DAD' BEERS. I'VE SEEN STOLEN CARS PARKED NEAR BY AND IN ON CASE A KID PULLING A RIFEL OUT FROM UNDER A CULVERT. ALL OF THIS ACTIVITY WITHIN FIFTY FEET OF MY HOUSE. DITCHES OFFER TOO MUCH COVER FOR THESE KINDS OF THINGS AND ARE VERY CLOSE TO MANY HOMES.
