Kiplinger’s Magazine: Albuquerque is the nation’s second best city to call home

Citing high tech jobs, especially in the growing renewable energy sector, Kiplinger’s Magazine has rated Albuquerque as the second best city to live in. Huntsville, Alabama took the top slot this year.

Kiplinger’s noted that Albuquerque put considerable effort into wooing Schott Solar to build a solar panel plant in the city.

“We were overwhelmed with collaboration and enthusiasm,” Schott chief executive Gerald Fine said to Kiplinger’s.

The article will very probably be featured in campaign literature for Mayor Martin Chavez — who has yet to officially announce that he is running for mayor despite qualifying for the ballot and for public financing — though Chavez was never mentioned in the article.

Gov. Bill Richardson, however, was mentioned. Apparently, Richardson gave Fine his personal cell phone number “just in case Fine needed help untangling any snags.”
