TODAY’S TOP STORIES: Good water news for Ruidoso and Clovis area

The Ruidoso News is tracking federal stimulus funds — $27.5M on the way from D.C. for water projects.  This money will specifically help reconstruct and expand the wastewater treatment plant in Ruidoso.

Meanwhile, the Ute Water Project is moving forward, so reports the Clovis News Journal. However, the $432M project is still not in the bag just yet — many representatives and communities planning to be part of the project have called for another study to iron out a few concerns.

In business news, Positive Energy Solar is expanding from its presence in Santa Fe and Albuquerque. With clientele ranging from larger commercial enterprises to smaller residential installations, Positive Energy’s new office will be powered, of course, by solar modules in the form of door and window awnings.

And on the state politics beat, the Santa Fe New Mexican’s Steve Terrell reports on Albuquerque state Sen. Jerry Ortiz y Pino’s plan to run for the Democratic nomination to be the next lieutenant governor.  Ortiz y Pino hopes to work alongside current Lt. Gov Diane Denish, if she wins the governor’s race.
