michael-sanchez-pic2Looks like Lt. Gov. Diane Denish might be getting some gubernatorial primary competition in the form of Senate Majority Leader Michael Sanchez. The Belen Democrat has served in the Senate since 1993.

Michael S. Sanchez has formed an exploratory committee and is still contemplating a run for governor.

Sanchez would most likely end up being at a severe financial disadvantage over fellow Democrat Denish who has $1.7 million cash on hand already.

On the Republican side, National Guard Brigadier General Greg Zanetti and former state Republican Party chairman Allen Weh have both announced interest in the race.
