U.S. Sen. Jeff Bingaman, New Mexico’s senior senator, will be meeting with President Barack Obama today to discuss healthcare, according to a press release from the Democrat’s office.

Bingaman, the statement says, “is the only Democrat that is a member of both the Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee and the Senate Finance Committee — the two Senate panels tasked with writing comprehensive health reform.”

In addition to all of Bingaman’s work on crafting energy bill and climate bills, Bingaman will also have a big hand in the healthcare bill.
