Our system just isn't set up to favor coalition government, and most Americans see a third party vote as a vote thrown away -- or worse, since if you're a Republican and vote Libertarian, you're essentially voting Democratic, and if you're a Democrat voting Green, you're essentially voting Republican. <br><br>I realize that if everyone started thinking outside the box and voting their conscience, this wouldn't be the case, but it's like a game of political chicken and no one wants to be the first to throw their party (GOP or Dem) under the bus.
