Albuquerque made a Best Places to Live in 2009 list that The U.S. News and World Report put out yesterday.

Yep. You read that correctly. Our own Albuquerque.

The news magazine looked at areas with strong economies, low living costs and fun things to do when selecting areas. In other words, as the magazine admitted in its explanation, it took a “thrift-conscious” approach.

Before Albuquerque boosters get too excited, Auburn, Ala. is on the list too. Don’t get me wrong. Great university town, especially if you’re a Southeastern Conference college football fan. But not exactly paradise.

Other cities on the list: Austin, Tx., Boise, Idaho, San Luis Obispo, Calif., Durham, N.C., La Crosse, Wis., Loveland, Colo., Upper St. Clair, Penn., and St. Augustine, Fla.
