There’s never a dull day in the New Mexico blogosphere!  To start it all off, a couple bloggers react to the local headlines.

First, Cocoposts comments on fetal homicide law shaped by the recent double murder (man shoots woman, killing her and her fetus, then shot and killed the woman’s father), which would have been a triple murder count if New Mexico law recognized fetuses as humans. As this case is caught up in pro-life dialogue, Coco writes:

More murder charges and the lawmaking dance will do nothing to address violence and poverty in northern New Mexico.  Nothing.

Next, local blogger Mario Burgos is looking for political corruption. He gives his two cents on former New Mexico Senate powerhouse Manny Aragon, as he has begun his 67-month prison sentence. He continues his watchdog approach on local Democrats, including House Speaker Ben Lujan and Gov. Bill Richardson.

And on to another Lujan, U.S. Rep. Ben Ray Lujan is the focus of Democracy of New Mexico. Rep. Lujan, son of the speaker, discusses the Hispanic role in the clean energy economy in a recent speech to Latinos in Information Sciences and Technology Association. He believes the eco-energy world can provide many educational and business opportunities for the Hispanic community. Lujan suggests that the best way to move toward continued sustainability is by including all New Mexican voices.

Then, the Albuquerque Journal’s John Fleck shows what a housing bubble looks like. He compares our housing market to others in the Southwest, including Arizona and Nevada.

In other news, a Santa Fe Reporter blogger explains why the coordinator of a Santa Fe-based prisoner rights organization believes imprisoned journalists Euna Lee and Laura Ling are recieving too much media attention .  This official thinks the 12-year sentence is a short one compared to other possible sentences being served for other non-violent crimes.
