A meeting of Albuquerque Twitter users (known as a “tweetup” because it rhymes with meet up) drew 275 people to the Balloon Museum. Included were a couple of political figures and a few journalists.

Event organizer Ashley Drake Gephart wrote a blog post about the event.

Albuquerque Mayor Martin Chavez stopped by the tweetup for a few minutes, talking to Twitter users, including some local reports. Radio reporter Peter St. Cyr (@Peter770) and radio host Terrie Q. Sayre (@TerrieQ) tried to convince the mayor to announce that he is running for a third term at the tweet up.

Chavez has over 450 followers at his Twitter account @MartyChavez.

Santa Fe County Sheriff Greg Solano also attended the tweetup. Solano, a Democrat, is running for lieutenant governor in 2010.

Solano has 380 followers on his Twitter account.
