They are just the worse people, I've had several patients at Drug Rehab San Jose who recalled driving while intoxicated, luckily with no accidents. Still, I think the current penalties for drunk driving are not enough to make people aware of the danger they're submitting themselves and others to this way.

I am saying that one citizen's definition of 'instrusive' is another's definition of 'protecting the public's general welfare'. Would you mind if your airline pilot had a glass of wine before taking you aloft? How about that guy operating the monorail next time you take your kids to DIsney World? Or the lady who helps out by carting kids to and from the museum next time your 4th grader goes on a field trip?

An automobile is like a loaded gun, capable of killing several people in seconds if operated recklessly or negligently. Yet some people behave as though there's a constitutional amendment protecting their right to drive in whatever state of impairment they desire.

Those who put that philosophy into action have no place on our socialized roads.

I don't have the right (or the desire) to to them simultaneously. We have the ability, but not the right. That's what “against the law” means.

Are you saying that excessively intrusive government actions in the past justify other intrusive actions now? Two wrongs make a right?
