A quick trip around the local blogosphere:
Former ABQ Mayor Jim Baca asks U.S. Sen. Tom Udall, “WTF?!” In much more eloquent terminology, Baca questions why Udall is supporting those who have concealed weapon permits from around the United States to be able to freely carry their weapons without regard to New Mexico laws. He warns:
So now instead of just your fellow New Mexican packing a 9 mm Glock in the movie theater as he sits next to your child, you can also have itchy trigger fingers from Alabama, Mississippi, Arkansas, Texas…etc. etc. too!
Baca suggests he will continue to cover this move as he can only wonder why Udall would support such ideas.
Making the short jump from gun laws to homicide, La Politica posts on the growing popularity of homicide tourism in Juarez. With increasing violence as the Mexican drug cartels continue their rampage across Chihuahua, crime scenes are the new sites of entertainment. Many gather around with morbid fascination, wanting to get the chance to see a dead body, while some approach the scene hoping the body doesn’t belong to a family member or friend.
And on to politics, Heath Haussamen uses his blog to host a guest column getting an idea of how one New Mexican chooses her political affiliations and the implications that arise from the choice. See how Ellen Wedum justifies her political stances and why she considers herself “both an Idealist and a Democrat.”
From political choices to news choices: New Mexico, voting along with the majority of the United States, has voted Jon Stewart as the “most trusted newsman since Walter Cronkite died.” Check out blogger Steve Terrel’s links to the Time magazine online poll regarding this topic providing state-by-state results and information on runners-up.
