CD3: Lujan endorsed by Democracy for America

Democracy for America has endorsed Ben Ray Lujan, the second federal candidate in New Mexico the group has endorsed this year.

Lujan is considered a near-lock to win a seat in the 3rd Congressional District against Republican candidate Dan East and Independents Carol Miller and Ron Simmons.

“Ben Ray Luján is a committed public servant with a deserved reputation as a forward thinking problem solver and Democracy for America is proud to endorse his campaign,” said Jim Dean, Chair of DFA. “Ben Ray Luján is running for his constituents, New Mexicans, and all Americans and will be a loud voice for progressive solutions.”

Democracy for America was founded by former Vermont Gov. Howard Dean in 2004 "to build on the grassroots momentum for reform that his bid for the presidency sparked." Dean stepped down as chair in 2005, when he was named the head of the Democratic National Committee.

"I’m honored to receive the endorsement of Democracy for America. They play an important role in organizing and activating voters around the country,” said Lujan. “Grassroots organizing has made a huge difference in my campaign, and I look forward to working with Democracy for America to empower voters."

Democracy for America previously endorsed Bill McCamley in the 2nd Congressional District Democratic primary. McCamley lost to Harry Teague by a narrow margin.

Lujan’s name has not yet been added to the list of endorsements on Democracy for America’s Web site.
