Transcript: American Cement air quality hearing

By | 08.05.09 | 5:56 pm

On Wednesday night the City of Albuquerque Air Quality Division hosted a hearing tonight to discuss a North Valley cement company’s request to expand its hours of operation. NMI was on the scene, laptop in lap. Click the box below to read the transcript of our live blog.

At the first scheduled hearing, an audience of more than 100 people showed up to the Albuquerque Convention Center, but only some were able to speak after a scheduled presentation by representatives of American Cement ran later than expected. The question period, when audience members were allowed to ask questions of the company or of the city’s Air Quality Division employees, didn’t get started until around 7:30, an hour and a half after the meeting began.

This second hearing lasted four hours and everyone who signed up to speak had the opportunity to do so.
