With Albuquerque Mayor Martin Chavez’s criticism of how stimulus money is being allotted across the state, it reminded me of a Web site by the nonprofit journalism folks at Pro Publica which shows how much stimulus money each county is getting.

Users can sort by the most money allotted total, which happens to be $143,639,744 to Eddy County. Most of Eddy County’s stimulus money will go towards clean up activities at the Waste Isolation Pilot Plant. The least will go towards Harding County, just $5,735 — funds from the U.S. Department of Energy.

It won’t surprise observers to learn that Los Alamos County will receive the most stimulus money per capita, $7,619 per resident. This money mainly comes from millions of dollars in funding for programs at Los Alamos National Labs.

This money only counts towards money that is going directly to the counties. So it doesn’t count statewide projects towards things like Medicaid or family housing loans.

It’s an interesting look at where the stimulus money is going in both your county and state.
