Iglesias should be praised for having the guts to speak out on this and boldly confront the flimsy story that Wilson is making up years after the fact. Since when does the FBI go to your political opponent to get their evidence, how dumb does she think we are? It is shocking that our Justice system was being used to smear the political opponents of Wilson and Domenici. So they fired Iglesias because he was not willing to be partisan enough. Meaning he honored his oath of office. So then the most scary issue no one is talking about is this - if Fourrat was the replacement for Iglesias who was not doing what the GOP wanted in misusing the prosecutors office for political gain, what does this mean? You have to admit there has been a high number of political cases by his office, all against democrats, but who knows? In the end, we sadly have no watchdog agency at the state or federal level whose job it is to monitor the prosecutors or investigators, so they have no fear. The DOJ is the one investigating this case. There are many prosecutors over the years that have used the system for political gain.

When Patricia Madrid was a District Court Judge, she lamented that the casinos were hitting Hispanic mothers the worst impoverishing their children. She witnessed this tragedy time and again. She had NO trouble whatsoever keeping the concentration of casinos down in this state. If she could pull in 10 million a year for higher education in NM and a million dollars to educate our NM kids in Gadsden.
Madrid always had a talent for pulling money in for the people of NM. She brought so much money into the AG's office, she had trouble spending it fast enough for her constitutes.
Thank god a woman of her talents is still working on behalf of Democrats nationally.

Yet more evidence of the Wilson-Domenici axis of corruption. Good thing for Josh Marhall and TPM because we sure wouldn't have heard anything about had the Journal been left to its own devices. Notice how the Journal today played up the angle of the possible FBI investigation into Madrid, and played down the role Wilson-Domenici played in getting a US attorney fired for petty partisan political reasons (corruption exemplified). We all know that had there ever been one iota of a problem with Madrid's ethics it would have been splashed all over the front page of the Journal, all the while Wilson would have continued to have been lauded, and Domenici lionized.

By the way, I didn't buy the Journal--I never, ever buy the Journal (it only encourages them). I fished it out of the trash, and otherwise would have gone without. I understand why some bemoan the fate of news dailies like the Journal (i.e., purveyors of yesterday's news) but this incident shows why the Journal should not be mourned when it passes, inevitably, from the scene: a massive local corruption scandal with national implications and our best source of information is a blog from NYC.

Go ahead Heather, and run for governor. Let's give your ethical challenges a full airing.
