Here’s a statement from Jemez Mountain School District superintendent Adan Delgado on today’s findings of a special audit that revealed that $3.3 million was embezzled over several years. In part, the statement notes the following:
The impact of the embezzlement on the District has been devastating, not only negatively impacting the District’s finances, but endangering the District’s educational services to its students. Our staff and the Board are still in shock at the apparent actions of our trusted Business Manager.
Delgado was the person who reported in June his suspicions that embezzlement had taken place to to the Office of the State Audit . His role is explained in an executive summary of the Special Audit that discovered that $3.3 million was embezzled from the school district.
