Two North Korean diplomats are in New Mexico to meet with Bill Richardson according to multiple news outlets. The topic of discussion will be renewable energy.

This comes just weeks after former President Bill Clinton secured the release of two U.S. journalists who were imprisoned in North Korea.

The New York Times reports the North Koreans are already in New Mexico, citing Richardson spokesman Gilbert Gallegos.

According to Gallegos, Richardson will not be doing any negotiating, but instead discussing renewable energy with the North Korean diplomats, Kim Myong Gil and Taek Jong Ho, on their two-day visit to New Mexico.

The two diplomats are on a mission from North Korea to the United Nations.

“The timing is interesting,” said a U.S. source to CNN. “It’s two days. Interesting things can always be said. And any interesting thing can be passed on to the (Obama) administration.”
