Gov. Bill Richardson, a week after hosting diplomats from North Korea, traveled to Cuba on a trade mission this week. And, speaking in the capital city of Havana, said he is in favor of “enhanced tourism travel for Americans” according to the Associated Press.
Richardson, the Associated Press story said multiple times, is not there on White House business.
“I’m not an envoy of the (Obama) administration. I’m carrying no message. I’m here as a governor seeking agricultural trade,” Richardson said according to the AP.
Richardson is in Cuba to promote trade, which in certain instances, is allowed under the current conditions of the Cuban embargo.
The Obama administration has recently relaxed travel restrictions for family members.
